Legend Films Succeeds with Patent Strategy Involving Founder's Pioneering Film Colorization Technology

Most film aficionados and viewers of classic films have not had the pleasure of seeing a movie that has been restored and colorized using the latest technological advances. While critisizm from film purists abounds the reality is that the end product most people associate with the colorization of black and white movies has vastly improved over the years. Film colorization pioneer and Founder of Legend Films, Inc., Dr. Barry Sandrew has made it his mission to continuously improve upon and perfect the process for colorizing movies. Sandrew remains driven to show people how truely beautiful a black and white move can appear once colorized. A comparison of the Fox films release of Hedi colorized by Legend against an older version of the film using the more archane colorization process is enlightening. As one can tell from such a comparison older colorization efforts were sometimes abhorent. How does this relate to patent litigation you may ask?

The answer is simple. Dr. Sandrew invented a method for digitally colorizing black and white images that remains to this day the foundation upon which digital colorization systems function. Although Legend's own proprietary system contains additional advances that extend far above and beyond the original colorization process developed by Dr. Sandrew, his work is viewed as an integral component of modern image processing and colorization systems. As the owner of the preiminent film colorization patents Legend Films maintains it position at the forefront of the film colorization market. To prevent what Legend views as a blatant violations of its coveted patent rights Legend has on occasion taken action to protect these legally enforceable patent rights.

In seeking counsel to spearhead its patent litigation strategy Legend Films called on the experience and technical expertise of Dalina attorneys to take action against infringers whose colorization processes are believed to fall within the scope of Legend's patent claims. These policing efforts are an ongoing effort assisted with the diligence and focus of Dalina attorneys.

Result = multiple royalty and other agreements favorable to Legend Films.
